My portfolio hit the 150k mark!
I’m reporting my automatic purchases for this week:
I bought:
$1000 of TD
$500 of TEVA
$500 of WFC
I used $2000 in new capital and added $71.15/year to my dividend income. This is an average yield of 3.6%.
My forward 12-month dividends increased to $5384.47.
Note: All three of these companies are up to full positions. I will continue to add more to TEVA on any weakness.
Man smashing through to $150k is awesome. I still need to look into Sharebuilder although I won’t be funding it with anywhere near the amount of capital you’re doing. Are most of your purchases through Sharebuilder and the rest of the capital going to options?
Hi PIP,
Thanks! I’ve definitely made a lot of progress in just a year’s time. I hope to continue to increase my investment capital each month.
Yes, most of my purchases are going through Sharebuilder. When I mention a specific dollar amount of a stock instead of a number of shares that is always Sharebuilder. I basically enter in a dollar amount of the security I want to buy and it buys fractional shares every Tuesday for me. It’s been a great way to dollar-cost-average into some stocks. It’s also saving me commissions versus only using E*Trade. I get up to 12 purchases for $12 each month. So the majority of my capital is going here. I do funnel a small amount into E*Trade and make maybe one purchase a month and keep my options account funded.
Thanks for stopping by!
AAI,
Awesome!! Breaking $150k already is amazing. Your progress thus far has been very impressive. You’re allocating capital at a monster rate. Keep it up!
I like the buys. I’m definitely bullish on some of the banks at today’s prices, and WFC and TD are definitely among the best banks available.
Best wishes!
Hey DM,
Thanks! This is definitely a nice milestone to hit. I’m a couple years older than you so I feel like I am still behind and playing catch-up. Fortunately, I am able to make some sizable purchases for the forseeable future.
I think most of the value currently is in financials, energy and tech. Financials are currently 10% of my portfolio so I will probably try to focus on some other sectors like energy.
Take care!
