I started the year with a portfolio value of 94k. In less than 7 months I’ve almost doubled my portfolio value. This is mainly due to purchasing new positions using fresh capital but the market is also up considerably.
I hit this goal sooner than I expected so I will now shoot for 250k in portfolio value by the end of the year. I’m on track to hit all of my goals I set besides the refinance of my primary mortgage at 3% or less. Unfortunately that one is out of my control with interest rates now near 4.5%.
I’ve already completed 5 out of my 8 goals so far this year. All of my goals are posted on my goals tab.
I presume your income is also high. How about a relative number such as the ratio of your portfolio value to income. 180k would be several times my income for exampl. I’m not sure if this is a remarkable achievement for you or simply better than your goal. Let us know!
Hi Wallet,
I just checked out your site and you have some useful information. I just added you to my reading list. You do make a good point about the numbers just being relative. If I made a million a year this number would be extremely lousy. I haven’t been completely transparent with my income mainly because it’s not consistent. I also had a larger than expected tax payment due this year that ate into a lot of my income. After taking out the large tax bill I owed, I was able to put over 70% of my after tax income to work for me the first half of the year. I’m trying to bring that number up and I’ll work on being a little more transparent with my income.
Thanks for dropping by!
AAI, That’s true what WE said. It may be relative, although the reached goal is impressive and congrats to reaching it. If you do not want to reveal your income, which is understandable, you may show how much of your expenses this account covers plus what is your saving ratio. We then can calculate your income ourselves without you telling us, :)))
AAI,
Congrats because that’s huge progress in such a short time frame. I wish I could be getting there soon but it’ll still be a while until I hit $180k. I might have been able to hit it near the end of the year if my wife and I weren’t going to be trying to buy a house. But most of the downpayment is already set aside so now I can focus on building the portfolio back up.
Hi PIP,
Thanks! Good luck on house shopping. It’s a lot of fun but also a little stressful at the same time. That’s great you already have your down payment ready. It sounds like your portfolio will have some strong contributions the second half of the year.
Keep up the good work!
AAI grats on hitting yet another 2013 goal. I like how your goals are difficult but still achievable for you. I try to explain to others the importance of setting goals to begin with but most are afraid to fail… so they never get started (investing, real estate, or anything really)
IE,
Thanks! Well apparently some of them weren’t difficult enough but it’s still something to shoot for. A lot of people lack the ambition or drive and some just need a little direction. I agree that goals are important in many facets of life. Thanks for stopping by.
Take care!
Wow, you’re on fire! Congrats!
Hey CI,
Thanks! I keep surprising even myself.
